Clyst Valley Regional Park Newsletter

Hello, and a warm welcome to our first newsletter for Friends of the Clyst Valley, from Jon & Simon.

Clyst Valley Regional Park - make it yours!

Two girls going for a walk

It’s time for you to help us plan for a future that is better for people and nature; where more high quality public greenspaces are accessible to all without using the car; where water quality is restored, rivers are naturalised, and carbon accumulates in regenerating woodlands; where our highly valued local food, drink and recreational businesses are supported through these challenging times, and jobs created; and where historic buildings are saved for the public to enjoy.

Tell us what is important to you

Closes 7th January 2021

Routes for Roots

Ashclyst Forest guided walk

Whilst we’re restricted, we’ve been planning for next year: new Health Walks in Broadclyst and Pinhoe, with thanks to Active Devon; improvements to the walking and cycling trail between Broadclyst and Killerton House, with thanks to National Trust; and more tree planting in parks and orchards, in collaboration with Saving Devon's Treescapes

Broadclyst "Church, Mill, River and Inn" Walk

Whilst we cannot guide you in person, you can guide yourself using our film and downloadable map. Our first walk starts in the centre of Broadclyst and is only 2 km and mostly level, with one gentle hill. There are no stiles to negotiate but some parts are muddy, so great for kids old and young!

Despite its short length, this walk has some surprises. Watch the video guide

Have a great time and send us a picture whilst you’re there.

Where Have You Been?

Project Officer Jon with a Viking teddy bear

Tell us about your own outdoor adventures in the Clyst Valley.  Maybe you went on a family expedition and took your teddy bear out for a Halloween half term walk like Project Officer Jon did? Do you think that is bear-ly believable? See for yourself!

Perhaps you have hiked right across the valley, hugged a great tree, marvelled at a beautiful landscape, or snapped some wildlife? Share your love and pictures @ClystValleyPark and tag us #RoutesForRoots
